Snow Day in NYC

* Today is day #11 of my 28 days of blogging.
Unless you've been on a deserted island for the last couple of days, you know that there has been a record breaking snow storm blasting areas from northern Virginia to extreme southern New England. People have been secluded in their homes for days.

New York caught a break and didn't really see any snow until yesterday. And boy, did it snow! But New Yorkers are a rare breed and they braved the blizzard to take advantage of the snow day.

Here are a few examples:

Little Suri Cruise braved the storm with mom Katie Holmes, protected by a Disney princess umbrella.

Some people grabbed their skis and headed to Central Park.

And here, at Maison de Wannabe WAHM, we went for an early evening stroll in the middle of the blizzard to take pictures and make snowballs.

How did you guys spend the day yesterday? I'd love to hear from you!

  1. I love your picture :)

It'd like say that the reason I wasn't aware of snow storms over by you is because I lived on a desert island... I wish it was. I do, I do.

But alas, only England and we're too busy reporting on our snow which is a record breaking...nada! Well ok. It sprinkled for about 10 minutes and all hell broke loose.

    gotta love the brits!

  2. Love the picts! I stayed home and stayed warm yesterday, but alas, today it is back to work for me as I work in NYC and they never shut down! *sigh* Love the last picture of you and your adorable daughter - her smile is precious! Have a good day and stay warm! :o)

  4. Sometimes I think it would be really hard being Katie Holmes and having to make sure you and your toddler always look extremely cute when you head out anywhere since the pictures are going to turn up right away talking about every detail. And then I remember that she's married to Tom Cruise and can swim in their room of gold like Scrooge McDuck if she wants to... and then I don't feel so bad.

I ditto what everyone else already said about Sophia looking adorable in your pictures, she's so happy to be playing out in the snow!

  5. What cute pictures! I'm in Missouri and we barely got 3 inches so I spent my day at work and my kids spent the day in school. I am not a huge fan of snow but I'll take that much snow if it means I can stay home with my kiddos for a couple of days! :)

We just make cocoa. We don't really play in the snow much here.

  10. I have to tell you... I think Suri Cruise is just about one of the cutest kids out there. I mean, very "Stepford"ish, but adorable. But YOUR little girl is even cuter! That's hard to do IMHO :)

I hope you DO play along next week. And I agree, The (Un)Experienced Mom totally rocks my world too!

  16. Cold. I spent the day cold. And eating chicken soup. And eating way too many leftover Valentine cookies that didn't get delivered to a V-day party because of the snow.

  19. Great snow shots! I'm in cold FLORIDA, but not quite that cold. My young kids are jealous of photos like yours, they want to be playing in the snow so badly!

    Stay Warm!

I'm super new to all of this, just started a blog when I started an online business in October 2009, and am having blast finding all these other Mommy's doing this! And as you can tell, not really sure yet, WHAT I'm doing! :-) Will make my profile public.
